Coat season

Standard

Fall is right around the corner, and for most of the country that means COAT SEASON!!! Coat are a great vintage item because they’re built sturdier (to hold up to the weather) and worn less (only half the year, and only when you go outside).

Vintage coat styles aplenty can be found online. From 80s-era leather jackets to faux-fur parkas, the internet can fill you wardrobe void. To the right is a 70s leather jacket from Saks Fifth Ave for sale at Pre-OwnedClothing.com for $75. The coat below was available from Etsy for $69.

Men’s jackets are also available in many vintage styles, including this $70 wool coat from Esty below.

Many time, genuine military jackets can be found at thrift and surplus stores.

Vintage Legwear- Tights!

Standard
vintage tights

vintage tights

As fall approach, the fashionable accessory on our minds is tights! Long, bare legs in nice in the summer… very bohemian. But when it’s cold out, tights are like a fashionable hug around your legs that is different from pants because the stretchiness and softness.

Tights were first worn by men… at least that’s what wikipedia states. They said that men needed a tight garment to ride horseback. So isn’t it interesting how so few men where tights now? And they are so beloved by many women.

Wether seen in old, vintage pictures of fashionable ladies or in modern retro ways, tights are the perfect accessory to the leg!

Jackie Kennedy

Standard

Jackie Kennedy Onassis, the ex-First Lady of the United States, was a fashion icon in her time. As First Lady, she retained Oleg Cassini to create her wardrobe. Her looks included the sleeveless A-line dresses, above-the-elbow gloves, low-heel pumps, and famous pillbox hats. She embodied the 1960s, American, high-fashion scene. Below, we have a collection of some of her most gorgeous outfits. Have you been inspired by a First Lady or a President?

Vintage records and record players

Record player

Nothing looks cooler than an old, vintage record player. Some would even argue that nothing sounds better, either! But wether you choose to furnish your home with a record player for practicality or for looks, it is going to be awesome.

For awhile, record players were hard to come by. You had to buy them online or from thrift/antique stores. But now they’re really making a resurgence. Stores like Target and Urban Outfitters are selling vintage-inspired record players that really work and of course, Etsy has tons of vintage ones too.

At Rubber Soul Vintage, we love to listen to old records on record players. Not only are other people starting to come around to them as well, they are showing up in more and more photo-shoots. They just make everything look better!

1980s work out fashion

Leg warmers, impossibly tight spandex everything, thick headbands, and big hair… what else could we be talking about? The 1980s had some seriously experimental fashion and it didn’t stop when you hit the fitness center!

Sure, many of us look back and ask- what were they thinking? But maybe we’re just jealous. Sometimes wearing outrageous clothes is fun! How many people can you think of who have dressed up in 1980s fashion for Halloween or parties? I can think of plenty!

That’s why we, Rubber Soul Vintage, exist. We sell vintage and vintage-inspired clothing from the 1920s and on. So if you love the 1980s or any other kind of vintage clothing as much as us, be sure to swing by our store in downtown San Diego and like us on Facebook!

You can also look for stoles and skirts. What other strange materials do you look for on your vintage hunting?
