Do you have a lot of opinions? If you answered yes, then Yelp is your perfect platform! You can review your favorite and not-so-favorite restaurants, shops, tourist attractions, and much more. Most Yelp sites usually have helpful information like operation hours, contact information, and pictures that aren’t really floating around anywhere else. But more importantly, Yelp has reviews!

Even we, Rubber Soul Vintage, have a page! And we have a review, too. If you have every visited our store, we’d love to hear from you via email or Yelp. We are always looking for ways to improve and feedback is a great tool for it!

Vintage Theaters

Wether you’re looking for a date night venue, a day out with your family, or just some vintage fun, vintage theaters are the perfect solution. A vintage theater can range from being old and classic to performing/playing vintage movies and plays. Here’s a few places that we found online:

1. Vintage Theater Collective: (Chicago, IL)

Here is the collective’s mission statement, “It is our mission to dialogue with classic works and learn through them how to better live in our world today. We produce classics with a modern twist and have a bent toward new adaptations.”

2. Sequoia Theatre: (Mill Valley, CA)

Here’s what their website said about the theatre, “First opened as a single screen theatre in 1929 with 1,200 seats. Twinned in 1975, the former Sequoia Twin Cinema is part of the Mill Valley Film Festival each year.”

3. Scranton’s Village Theater: (Scranton, PA)

This is their mission statement, “The Vintage Theater’s mission is to cultivate and showcase the numerous art forms that make up Northeastern Pennsylvania, and introduce the professional arts to up and coming performers/artists.”

Vintage Cars For Any Occasion!

There are many automobile manufacturers and the competition for the best car technology has proved to be useful in making safer or faster or prettier vehicles than ever before. But sometimes, you just want a classic, vintage ride.

With tons of car shows happening across the country, classic and vintage cars just don’t seem to go out of style. Some weddings are using/taking photos with classic cars to give their wedding some vintage flare. Sometimes, you see classic car lovers driving their ride down the street. Whatever your use for a classic car, you’re going to look cool doing it!

Football season means vintage football gear

Have you ever noticed that football involves fashion, too? When you imagine football players, you often think of the jersey and those tights pants. Maybe you think of the logo on the helmet or the color that fans where on game day. There is no denying it – fashion is involved in football.

Vintage or collectable, whatever you would like to call it, old football apparel and gear is in demand. On the football fanatic website, there is tons of vintage inspired apparel for sale. In case you weren’t sure if it was vintage, the website has photoshopped the word “VINTAGE” into the bottom right corner of these pieces.

You can also shop Ebay for authentic and inspired vintage football gear. Hoodies, jerseys, bath robes, you name it – they got it!

There’s a website called Antique Athlete that auctions off authentic sports apparel and gear, too.

Chicago Vintage Shops

Calling all Chicagoans and those who pop into the Midwest was time to time: Chicago has some amazing vintage shops that are worth a shout-out!

1. Belmont Army: (Lakeview) This building is packed with five floors of apparel and goodies. There’s a skate shop, apparel, shoes, army surplus, and a vintage & resale floor. For all you vintage lovers, the top floor with the vintage stuff is probably where you want to head to.

2. Knee Deep Vintage: (Pilsen) This is an adorable little shop in the colorful neighborhood of Pilsen. Perhaps a little too stuffed with apparel, but the teal and wood paneled walls make up for this in charm. Pictured below.

3. Clothes Optional: (Lakeview) At Clothes Optional, you can find tons of awesome vintage apparel from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. As one Yelper says, it is “well edited” meaning that the clothing has gone through a good selection process.

Vintage Wedding Dresses

I’ve been getting a lot of wedding invitations recently, so I thought- why not write a little about the beautiful, vintage dresses available to brides-to-be and admirers. While doing a simple google image search, I found millions of vintage wedding dress pictures. It’s amazing how much is out there! Take a look at these beautiful dresses:

Vintage Halloween Costumes

Halloween is around the corner which means it’s time to break out the spooky decorations and costumes! And guess what? Since you’re reading this now, almost 4 weeks before the holiday, you should have plenty of time to plan the perfect costume whether that means going to the store or ordering online.

On the left, you can see a photo of  a group of kids on Halloween, many Halloweens ago. Sometimes it is just the simply things, like a mask, that can make all the difference in the world. The photo was found here.

But sometimes, we just want to go all out. In the picture below, you can see a group of kids dressed in the whole get-up, head to toe costume incorporation. And admittedly, they look pretty awesome. That photo was found here.

But here’s another idea: Dress up as a decade! At Rubber Soul Vintage, you can find tons of vintage and vintage inspired outfits that can be used as costumes.
