1980s work out fashion
Leg warmers, impossibly tight spandex everything, thick headbands, and big hair… what else could we be talking about? The 1980s had some seriously experimental fashion and it didn’t stop when you hit the fitness center!
Sure, many of us look back and ask- what were they thinking? But maybe we’re just jealous. Sometimes wearing outrageous clothes is fun! How many people can you think of who have dressed up in 1980s fashion for Halloween or parties? I can think of plenty!
That’s why we, Rubber Soul Vintage, exist. We sell vintage and vintage-inspired clothing from the 1920s and on. So if you love the 1980s or any other kind of vintage clothing as much as us, be sure to swing by our store in downtown San Diego and like us on Facebook!

Instagram and vintage: they go together like that song in Grease. While on Instagram, you can search for great vintage and thrifted clothes that people have found by using the hashtag feature. #thrifting #vintage and #found all lead to some great vintage pieces. The picture below was a $6 find at Unique Thrift in Chicago. Oscar de la Renta at its cheapest!

Feather Head Band
What is it about summer that makes us all want to dress in the vintage bohemian style? Feathers, in particular, are beautiful yet low key. In the photo above, found here, we can see an example of how feathers can be made into a headband.

And in the photo above, found here, feathers are used as an accessory on summer sandals.

Right now, we think of vintage as things from past that were fancy but not too fancy. If it’s from the 50s, it might be homemade. If it’s from the 80s, it might be a Member’s Only jacket. But what’s going to be the vintage store find of the future?
There are a lot of store that go for the vintage look, like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. Then there’s the big brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. But what might be the vintage brand of tomorrow?
We here at Rubber Soul Vintage think it may be anything from cowboy boots to Lady Gaga glasses. It’s hard to predict, but the pop culture icons as well as the long term fashion trend seem to dictate the vintage style of the future. But with the emphasis on vintage, the future has a lot less to draw on. Skinny jeans and maxi dresses might not hold up…
This time we want to hear from you! How do you like your vintage? Do you like to have curated selection like Rubber Soul Vintage?
